Memorial Day weekend

We spent the holiday weekend in Grove, Oklahoma. It was a wonderful time. We were so glad to see Cheryl and her new addition to the family, Sophia. We measured the boys and discovered that Aidan has grown three inches since he turned two in September!

All smiles!

Zachary is smiling a lot now. He is such a sweet boy. Robin spoiled the boys while she was here this week helping our family after Amy's surgery. Thanks for your help, Robin!

The Legacy Continues

I (Jake) wanted to throw on some memories of my dad embarrasing me that I fully intend to pass on to my children. Here are just a few. Sibs, you'll have to help me add some more.

1) Misguided fan- Just as I stepped into the batter's box at my little leauge game to take a few swings I hear my dad yelling from the stands his favorite nickname for me, "Rocky!!...Rocky Marciano!!". None of my friends knew who Rocky Marciano was, all of their dads knew he was NOT a baseball player.

2) Milly Vannilly- Somehow my dad became a big fan, nearly groupy status, of the band. My dad taught me about great music, but somehow his love affair for them did not even end when he discovered they were a fraud. You could hear "blame it on the rain" blasting from our stereo from about 7-8am every morning.

3) The Dancing Driver- In spite of his love for good music, Dad was not blessed with any sort of musical ability except whistling. Nowhere was this more apparent than driving down the
interstate on our way to Indiana. Because he didn't know most of the words, Dad usually encouraged the singers, saying "Go Willie" or "Here it comes now". To match that he danced in-spite of his lack of rythem. To go along with the constant head bob, there was the random point and snap (never with the beat), the shoulder shimmy, and my personal favorite, the air piano.

There are more, but we'll save them for a later post.

Jokster

Lately, Aidan has been into telling jokes. Many of you probably have heard them, but this is his newest joke:

"What kind of train has teeth? A choo-choo!" Ha! ha!

I am new here!

My name is Zachary Elijah Van Lear and I arrived April 8, 2008 at 1:15 pm. I weighed a whopping 7lbs 11 oz and was 20 inches long. My family was so excited to see me. Aidan helps out with diaper changes and putting my pacifier back in when I lose it! I am now one month old and weigh over 9 lbs! I am getting used to how things run around here!

May 2008

Daddy just bought us a fixer-upper swingset for our backyard. I helped "fix" the playground with my tools and screws. I love playing on the swings and slide! These pictures are from the night Mommy let us eat dinner outside. After dinner we ate the ice cream we bought from the ice cream truck!
